This is a perfect time to recommend an Colin Kaepernick “pardon”

The president is in such a giving mood pardoning dead black folks. Maybe he can pardon a living one.

Blackballed from the NFL, quarterback Colin Kaepernick should still be in the league. This is a perfect time to recommend an Colin Kaepernick “pardon,” now that NFL players have been summoned by the president.

It seems like a hollow political move by the President, but mentioning Kaepernick can call his bluff. You see, what players are protesting simply cannot be “pardoned.”

Numerous occasions where unarmed black minors and adults were shot went without consequence. THAT, Mr. President, was what black athletes in the NFL that you have waged war with were protesting. Hopefully, logical players will call the President’s bluff and call bullshit. Make no mistake, despite those who deem the president as an idiot, he knows how to play politics. Despite many of his constituency’s fetish that he “isn’t a politician,” this reeks of a politician’s move.

Futhermore, it continues to refute the phony narrative that “fans” don’t want “politics in their sports.” In actuality, “fans” don’t want to hear black people discuss issues that make white people feel like racism is a thing. They don’t want to hear it in AND out of sports, politics, entertainment, or any other facet of life.  Somehow, we’ve begun to live in an America where combating racism and police brutality has become a debatable “republican vs democrat” thing over an, “let’s stop being racist,” thing.

The simplest of constructs seems only to be acknowledged in status quo, “in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King,” catch phrases and convenient moments, while not applied in real life.

While one could argue that a “pardon” of Colin Kaepernick could be the ultimate PR move, it still would be a beneficial move, nonetheless. NFL owners have been proven scared of the president and his twitter account. Combined, his non-objective fanbase and critics could all have their minds blown if the President greets the black athletes with love and empathy.

You know, some real American shit, ironically, a day after Colin Kaepernick’s lawyers planned to subpoena Trump, thought, right?
